Christmas Uptown Greenwood

Christmas Uptown Greenwood is our favorite time of year!

Each Holiday season beginning just before Thanksgiving Uptown becomes to stir with wonder.  Christmas Uptown Greenwood, SC is a winter wonderland. We are committed to bringing Christmas Magic to Uptown Greenwood for families near and far to share and enjoy.  The Inn on the Square has a display of themed Christmas Trees in each common area.  One of the Inn’s owners, Jim McGuinness, brings gingerbread building to another level.  Come Uptown and enjoy a stroll along the dazzling display of lit trees, join us for one of many featured dinners, and finish in the Fox & Hound Lounge for an evening nightcap before you head upstairs to one of our beautifully appointed guest rooms.

Introducing Greenwood Inn Gingerbread

Join us this holiday season and enjoy a display of community participation, highlighting Greenwood and the surrounding areas, made of Gingerbread.   It is our goal to encourage individuals and community groups and organizations to re-create, from gingerbread, homes/buildings/and landmarks in Greenwood.

HOW IT BEGAN – Three years ago when we first opened the hotel we knew that we needed a signature fundraising event.  Jim McGuinness, owner and operator, has always loved Christmas and began building gingerbread houses with his boys when they were just children.  We decided to incorporate this family memory into building new ones in Greenwood. With the help of the Bowers Rodgers Children’s Home, the Inn on the Square has continued to develop this event year after year.

In the past two years the event was limited to one gingerbread house on display made by McGuinness himself and the gingerbread building event for the children.  This year we invite you to join us in growing greater as we introduce “Greenwood Inn Gingerbread”.

Come check out this year’s construction of our very own Mayor’s home.

BBQ, Blues, & Beers, oh my!

“You must stop by the Carriage House Restaurant”

Road-Trip-Through-South-Carolina-0838

Just Peachy Blogger, Rachel Regal, had the opportunity to visit our quaint uptown area over the summer. She then wrote about her experience. Being from Atlanta and a fashionista, we were sure she would find some greatness in our town. We, at the Inn, are fortunate in that we get to host awesome traveling writers in our beautiful hotel, thanks to the ladies at the Old 96 District Tourism Commission. We appreciate you helping the Inn get its name out there to otherwise unknown travelers!

Ok, back to Just Peachy. Rachel was able to experience our Fryday Fish Special:  “If you’re in Greenwood on a Friday night, you must stop by the Carriage House restaurant at Inn on the Square, right in Uptown Greenwood. “Fryday” means you can get a huge plate of fresh fish (shrimp, cod, catfish, etc.) plus a potato, plus coleslaw, plus dessert for less than $10!” Whoa! Thank you, Rachel, for telling your followers how great of a deal it really is! It is the best in town! (You will not see Outback offering anything like it!) After enjoying our Fryday, she got to experience the Topiaries & Tasting Wine Walk, Festival of Flowers, The Mill House’s awesome pizza, shopping Uptown Greenwood and Emerald Farms before heading north to Greenville. Here is her entire entry. Read it.

Thanks again, Rachel, for enjoying our hotel & beautiful Uptown area. Please let us know when you can visit again!
